Biography

With influences ranging from De La Soul to Bjork to Stevie Wonder, all of which shine through on all his music, Omaur’s eclectic style of music should come as no surprise. Neither should his impressive resume, which includes tours and performances with the likes of Sage Francis, Slug of Atmosphere, Doomtree, Kool Keith, The Poet Tree, Lyrics Born. Arrested Development, Ozomatli, and Digital Underground and being a founding member of Medida.

Although rooted in hip-hop, the record reaches in to Omaur's diverse range of musical influences: Soul, Spoken Word, Drum 'N Bass, Jazz---if there's not SOMETHING you like on this record, then you need to get out more.

Omaur Bliss as Omac Montainya in Death Of An Unheard Rap Cowboy
Press Quotes

"...He's absorbed all kinds of different influences, and his self-titled debut CD shows it. Sure, there's hip-hop aplenty, but there are strings and soul as well, and it easily bridges the gaps between soul and rap that others have tried to cross in far clunkier fashion. It all swings nicely together in a mad, pleasant way..."
-Pulse Weekly

"...The CD is soulful, jazzy and spiritual, akin to Digable Planets or a male Lauryn Hill..."
-Minneapolis Star-Tribune

"...Omaur Bliss is gritty underground spoken word in an affair with gospel, soul, and R&B. The result is conscious verses with soulful melodies and beats that would make the hardest of the hard dance around with their shoes off."
-Wookiefoot.com

"...With an eclectic soul sound, and a 2005 hip-hop and drum n' bass feel, the album is filled with his heart and soul, and it shows...for real."
-Industry Magazine
